3:51pm - today is going bad. Henry, the cable tech I'm with today is very slow. I am way behind schedule. The other problem is that I need to get a signature on a work order that I forgot yesterday. But when will I have time?
My download of RedHat 6.1/sparc cancelled out last night after only 40mb. The FTP site was still down. So I started it again this morning, directly from Redhat's FTP site. It was at 80mb before I left for work. Hopefully it is done now.
some of my family were planning to go camping tonight but cancelled due to the sudden change of weather. So, since Victoria was going to go with them, but instead she is just comming over to spend the night.
9:47pm - There is only one word to describe today, "Horrible" I think for once that Murphy's law stuff really did happen today. Everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong. Every 2 minutes something was going wrong. I can't even begin to enumerate them all. Most of them were little things, but they all add up. Things like my pen quits writing. The next one leaks ink all over my hands. That takes forever to clean. Then there were various traffic problems all day. The humidity caused my windows to stay fogged most of the day. My allergies kept acting up. Reached around the back of somebody's PC and my finger got cut open. Reached around the second time and got a big clump of car grease (don't ask me) all over my hand.. had to go scrubb again. The cable tech I was with was super slow. Every job he took several hours to complete. Every job there was something unusual wrong with the subscriber's computer. Like one guy had a problem with his WSOCK32.DLL that was there before I got there.. I never could fix it.. as a result he never got online. All my modems were not on account properly. Somebody messed up and assigned all the modems to the wrong account.. So every job I had to call Denver and get them to correct the modem. The other guy had only 16 color display after I installed a network card and took me 30 mintes to get the proper driver and make it work again in high-color. One guy's cable was messed up and was reading a signal strength of 15 one minute and -15 the next. We never did get him synced up. At the end of the day we normally make an extra photo-copy of any work order that had problems and wasn't yet up and running and put it in our boss's tray. I had to copy every single order today and put in that tray (when normally I would have none or maybe one) Anyway... There were other things but I am tired of thinking about it. I have more in my palm computer too, but don't feel like getting dressed and going to the car to get it.My copy of RedHat 6.1/sparc was fully downloaded when I got home. However, Adaptec's Easy CD Creator doesn't want to write it to a CD. Every file it complains the date is corrupt and can't write it. When I right-click and look at the properties of these files the year is 2099. Okay, so the year is wrong, but it isn't corrupt!!! The only thing I found that could seem to fix all of them is to copy them to R2D2 and then back to my workstation. However, this is taking a while as it is about 600 MB worth of data at 10 Mbit max transfer speed. I haven't even gotten them all copied TO R2D2 yet much less copied back to my harddrive. But when finished, everything should work fine, I hope...
