8:26am - Don't have much time.. in fact, hardly any.. Need to get to work. Anyway, just read an Article that Amiga is comming back after gateway sold rights to another company. However, despite the incredible respect I had for the old Amiga's of the 1980's I wish this would just go away. Amiga has been bought by 6 or 7 different companies now, each one promising to bring it back. If Gateway can't or won't do it than it means they either know there is no or little market for it or the technological barriers are far too great to create what they promised for a reasonable price. besides, I don't want the market splintered anymore than it is. We need one or two major competitors to Microsoft and that is it.. that way the competition is more fierce. I hear Apple is likely to release MacOS on Intel hardware. Not certain how this will affect Microsoft either.. Also, BeOS will be free for download in another 7 days.. should be cool.

8:53pm - Well today brought several interesting facts. First of all, we had a meeting this morning (just like every Tuesday morning) and they told us they have changed the lunch-hour issue.. I am not sure if I ever wrote about it in the journal or not. To make it brief, they always deducted an hour from our day for lunch whether we took one or not. I complained to my boss but he said it was law and that I should take it up with the regional manager. So I emailed him and quoted some bits from the US Dept of Labor and I guess he realized that the policy on lunches was wrong. That was a good thing.. then the bad thing came next.. Like all other contractors for AT&T, Compath is now required to have comany signs on all vehicles used during working hours. So they passed out these magnetic signs for us to stick on our cars. I didn't really mind that much, although I would have rather not had it. However, I quickly found that since my car is made of plastic the sign won't stick to it at all. So I told my boss and he told me to put it on my dashboard. However, the bright white sign causes a massive sun glare on my winshield and I can't see to drive, so I just threw it in the back seat. I'm not sure what is going to become of this now.

I didn't get my CD today.. I should have.. I ordered it express mail. I guess it will arrive tommorow. I gave up on trying to download RedHat 6.1/sparc edition.. I ordered it from LSL. I paid more for shipping than I did on the cost of the CD. Leslie is in the middle of reinstalling Windows98 on her box. After installing DirectX 7 on there populous would no longer play. Then she removed it but nothing at all would load anymore.. didn't matter which program it was, it would give a DLL error. it is possible it is related to the fact that it is 98 lite. However, so far in my experience of using 98-lite I have not encountered any problems and in fact my system has been more stable and faster than it would have been otherwise. Anyway.. in another week I'll be running BeOS.
