9:45pm - this is getting ridiculous. I am unable to get the install of RedHat 6.1 to work on R2D2. I installed it fine yesterday on Sparky which is the exact same box and harddrive. It hangs on the third package called "ldconfig" each time. I found this bug mentioned several times in the "Bugzilla" archives on RedHat's website and they are all listed as "resolved" status but there is no instructions on how to resolve it. I also found this mentioned on newsgroups. It seems to only affect the Sparc IPX. Anyway, I am trying some experiments and if all else fails I will try putting R2D2's harddrive in Sparky during install and swapping them back. if that fails then I may try hooking Sparky's drive to my PC and ghosting the image and putting the image on the other drive. then I can simply change the information as needed to convert it to a fileserver instead of a webserver. Of course, I could try obtaining version 6.2 which hopefully won't have this problem.A guy gave me a copy of Windows 2000 Professional today.. He had about 15 copies (fully legal copies) he said he got from his work because they bought way more than they needed so he gave me one. Not sure what I am going to do with it. I also saw a hairless cat today. It was the ugliest pet I've seen yet. It wasn't really hairless. It had bare skin showing on its legs, tail, and face. however, the body was covered in a sheep-like wool. Very thin, of course. But looking at it you would think it was a sheep you were looking at, not a cat's fur. Anyway, it was just ugly. Then I saw the opposite. This other guy had a cat that had more fur than I'd ever seen before. It looked huge. It had a huge knot on its back the size of a tennis ball that was just knotted up hair that they owner couldn't untangle. I remember that Angel used to get little knots but nothing like this. Anyway, it had so much hair around its but that it was all covered in poop and pee because there was no free escape for it to come out without going through some hair. The guy said the cat had an appointment with the petstore to get trimmed tommorow. So he wasn't going to mess with trying to clean it up.
