8:45pm - Okay.. well I can breathe a sigh of relief. I've been working my butt off for the last 4 days trying to get the new roof on my shuttlecraft and painted before it rains. Rain has been forecast for the last 2 days, but it hasn't happened. THere were several obsticals in the way. First I had to remove the old roof and chizel away all the various substances I'd tried to use in the past to seal the leaks. Then I had to put the new pieces on and weld them all the way around.. That took the longest time. Then I had to clean the metal up with a steel wool drill atachment. Unfortunatly, it didn't remove as much slag as I thought it would. (Little tiny drops of metal that spew out when you weld, and stick to the metal around it) I could get it off with other means but I ran out of time. It is supposed to rain all day tommorow, 70% chance. And I believe it this time. So I went ahead and cleaned it the best I could and used primer on it. My dad gave me this stuff a while back, it was white metal primer. Since this stuff is basically just regular old steel (not galvanized), it should work. In fact, that is the main reason I was in a hurry to paint it, so it didn't turn into a bucket of rust. I've never painted metal with a brush before. I can definatly tell it is going to need another coat. But hopefully it will be enough to keep it from rusting really bad as it rains possibly for a few days. The picture shown here was taken while the sun was still up. I hadn't cleaned the metal up or painted it yet. This new 11-guage stuff I bought is strong as a tank. I can walk on it like it is solid ground. Wish I could have built the whole thing from that!

I had put our big partly-functioning TV on the Arlington, TX. freecycle network a few days ago. The moderator rejected it because I didn't specify the location. ANyway, I posted it again last night and it showed up this morning. I got two offers to take it within an hour. I contact one of them. They were supposed to come get it this evening, but didn't make it. Hopefully they will show up tommorow.
