9:40pm - I'm having some terrible trouble with my knees. Mostly my right knee. The problem stems, I think, from the way I've been sitting at work for many months now. I used to have a stand-up job. Now I sit all day. I tend to want to prop one of my feet up onto my other leg's knee. No specific pattern, I alternate right, left, under the knee, and over the knee all day. For some reason I just can't get myself to sit with both feet on the floor. It didn't cause a problem for several months. This started comming on gradually in the last 6 weeks. Eventually I realized the problem and tried to stop doing it. I would stop for a few days because there would be an immediate pain when I did it, but after a few days it would get better and subconciously I'd start doing it again. The pain is only caused when I'm standing on the leg and do any motion that causes a twising or torsion on my leg. Forward and backward are no problem. Walking and running are no problem. But turning a sharp corner, or anything involving twisting my body brings pain. I don't know what I'm going to do to make this better. I feel like I'm an 80 year old man complaining about this type of thing.
I had to pickup Hailey from daycare today. I drove over to The Children's Garden down the street from my house which is a daycare. I took Hailey in and we talked to the Pre-K teacher. We've been considering moving Hailey out of Nancy's. Not that Nancy has done anything wrong, but it is kind of out of the way for both of us (although more for me than it is for Leslie) and I'm wondering if Hailey might be better off in a more structured environment. I think Nancy has done a great job teaching them their ABCs and stuff at the age they are. In fact, I doubt I could have taught Hailey how to read and type the words she knows without Nancy's work. It was interesting because when the teacher was showing us around she pointed to all the kids pictures on the wall with their information. She said "We use pictures since kids at this age can't read their names." I said "Hailey can read her name. She can write it too, and type it, along with about 20 other words." The teacher was really surprised. The cost is about $30 more per week than we're paying now. I'm not sure if we are going to do that or not. Leslie and I need to talk about it more. Of course, the plan has been for a while that once the debt is paid off, that Leslie stays home with Hailey. But that will take even longer if we have to increase Hailey's daycare costs. But at least if she went to this place it would be easy for either one of us to drop her off or pick her up, or even for Grandma/Grandpa to do it if need be.
We went over to Mike and Leslie's house this evening to pick up a grill Mike was giving us. I really didn't want it. It is a nice grill, but I think it will just sit in the backyard in rot. Leslie is convinced she's going to be out there cooking on it all the time. I think it will just be in the way. But we'll see. We borrowed dad's little green truck and drove it all the way to Keller to get it. Their pool is finished, in fact, they were swimming in it when we arrived. It is the nicest pool I've ever seen. It isn't the biggest pool, but definatly the nicest one I've seen. I'm eager to try the slide and the diving board. Also Hailey should be old enough to enjoy the pool. Last time she went swimming she was less than 2 years old. Well, she may have gone swimming at home group once about a year ago for a few minutes but said the water was too cold (and it was)
