8:20pm - Well gee... where do I start? My cold went from bad to bad in a different way. Most of the major cold symptoms started to ease up on me by Tuesday evening.. I was glad since I had been suffering with it for 3 days. But that night I got up in the middle of the night to go pee and the strangest thing happened. I was standing in front of the toilet doing my business when suddenly, out of nowhere, I started to feel dizzy. I just put my hand on the cabinet above me and figured I'd just balance myself that way. As I continued to relieve myself, I became increasingly dizzy and began to feel as if I might vomit any second. I had just finished relieving myself, fortunatly, and my knees started to feel weak as if they could no longer hold me up. I managed to make it back to the bed, although I wasn't sure if I should be turning around and bending over the toilet to vomit instead. After laying down I began to sweat profusely and still felt like the world was spinning around me. After a few minutes everything returned to normal but I noticed my right ear was kind of hurting. When I awoke in the morning I discovered i was still dizzy when I stood up and now my water-like runny nose had changed into slimy green snot. I'm not sure which is better. At least I could go a few minutes between blowing my nose with the slimy stuff, rather than it just running all over my face. I felt pretty much terrible and Hailey was not being very cooperative either. I called my mom to see if she would take hailey to daycare, but she had gone to church to do some work up there. So I managed to collect her up into my car, her kicking and screaming the whole way, and take her to daycare. Later on I went to the doctor and he gave me some antibiotics. Appearently I have an ear infection. Today I went back to work, but I was having a pretty hard time. I've also had pretty much no appetite the last two days. I've lost a couple of pounds too. I'm feeling a little better this evening, I am hoping to be much better tommorow. Of course, Leslie has just recovered from her cold as well. Our house is looking terrible. Neither of us have been doing any chores or cleaning the past week. That is pretty much normal for Leslie but when I start feeling bad for a week the house becomes much worse very quickly. It looks like a landfill, trash dump, trash heap, whatever. It is flat out embarrassing.

However, my lack of cleaning did finally reveal one of the secrets of the universe, though. I've always wondered where those big black spots in the kitchen floor come from. It always looks like somebody spilled some coke or coffee or something in the floor, yet I would have remembered something like that. Yet, somehow they always show up. Well, the other day I watched hailey spill a little bit of apple-juice from one of her little juiceboxes into the floor. I was not feeling good enough to clean it up and the floor looks terrible already anyway. So I left it there. The next day when I was walking over the spot I noticed my foot stick to the floor a tad bit. When I lifted it, I saw the black spot had formed. Now it makes since. Any sticky liquid will eventually form a black spot after people have walked over it and the dirt from their shoes adheres to it. Wow.. mystery solved. Now if I could just figure out how the trash can always remains full no matter how often I empty it.

I was watching futurama in bed today. I've spent a lot of time just vegging in front of the TV the last many days. Sort of like Leslie does every evening. But I haven't felt like doing anything else. Anyway, Hailey decided to come in and watch it with me. Normally I don't really like Hailey watching Futurama. Most of the adult jokes she wouldn't understand so I am not worried so much about that. But the professor and Bender do use a lot of bad words I don't really want her to repeat. Not really bad stuff, but they often say stuff like "What in the hell is that, damn you, go to hell, etc.." It is usually in good humor, but Hailey doesn't know the difference. Still, I didn't feel like arguing with her since the show was almost over. Well, we came to a scene that was a bit confusing for Hailey. This was the episode where Kif gets pregnant. Now Kif is a man, albeit green, squishy-looking alien guy. On his planet the men get pregnant. Well, I figured that Hailey wasn't understanding most of what was going on but then it was time for Kif to give birth. I wasn't sure what to do here, and if I stopped the video Hailey would surely continue to interrogate me about why I stopped it. So I just let it go. Well, Kif started turning a different shade of green and grunting a lot. Hailey said, "I don't want to watch him puke." and she got up and ran out of the room. That couldn't have worked out better. She came back a minute later and all of his little tad-pole looking babies were everywhere and she asked where those came from and I said, "I don't know.." The funny thing here is that I almost wouldn't have minded telling Hailey where babies come from.. not the part about sex and all, but about comming from the mother. But this was a horrible example as it was a man having babies and that would be hard to explain.

Here is something interesting.. I took this picture an hour ago. I was trying to capture the big dark rainclouds behind the house. But I accidently left my flash on and I discovered something rather interesting. THe flash was reflected off of the raindrops in the air and shows a brief moment of time stopped for us to see. This picture here is zoomed in on a few drops because otherwise if I had put the full image here in this small space the drops would just be a pixel or two big and you couldn't see much. What I thought was weird is that the drops are nearly perfectly round. I always thought raindrops were tear-drop shaped. In fact, when I see it raining and the drops are falling they always appear elongated, but it must just be the motion tricking my eyes.. for as you can see, raindrops appear to be spherical in shape. Another thing I found intersting is actually how few drops were in the air at once. Even though it was raining moderatly hard, my yard only had a few dozen drops over the entire backyard. However, when it is raining in realtime they fall so fast that I guess my brain assumes they are spaced closer together than they really are. So that is my second interesting thing learned this week.
