10:30pm - Wow, it is hard to believe it is already November. It is time to start thinking about Christmas now. Anyway, I am amazed how little I've written in my journal last month. The reason is quite simply that I've been terribly busy in the evenings and weekends working on my iBookGuy business. And this weekend I've been really struggling to "clean up" all the machines I have laying around and sort them into 3 different piles: Broken, Need minor work, and ready to sell. Minor work is basically stuff like needing the software reloaded, or the battery tested, or things like that which don't require dis-assembling the laptop. Anyway, I have pretty much succeeded in getting everything organized and I even got a few repaired and several machines out of that minor work pile and into the ready to sell pile. The main reason I had felt I needed to do that is because I'm going to be getting a lot of new inventory in this week and I really need to get a better system going for that. I'm trying to get stocked up for Christmas season.

We did take Hailey trick or treating yesterday. She dressed up as Supergirl and even wore this outfit to school on Friday, which is actually when I took this picture. We went down our street first, and I think we were probably the only "customers" any of the houses around here even got. Then we went and parked at the school and walked down some of those neighborhoods as we have done in the past. Hailey was actually too scared to walk up to some of the houses with spooky decorations like spiderwebs or big skeletons or things like that. Since Leslie and I were staying on the sidewalks or the streets, she had to go up by herself. Sometimes she'd walk part the way up and stand there and tell us she was too scared. So we'd tell her to either go to the door, or lets move on to the next house. Leslie and I also got in the same argument we get in every year. She has this idea that if a house doesn't have a porch light on, we shouldn't knock on the door. However, when I saw a house that had a lot of halloween decorations like pumpkins with lights inside and strobe lights, and spider-webs, etc.. I told Hailey to go anyway. After all, a porch light would make those decorations ineffective. Leslie would always pitch a fit about it saying it was so rude. But my opinion was, if somebody went to all that trouble to decorate, then obviously they are participating in halloween. And in every case except one, somebody opened the door and handed out candy. And in the case of that one, I don't even think anyone was home because there were no cars in the driveway and every light in the house was off. Even our neighbors directly across the street fell into this category. They went to a lot of work to put all those decorations up and Leslie didn't want us to go over there because their porch light was out. But, they answered and had candy in a bowl. So if I had taken Leslie's advice, they would have done all that work and probably not had a single visitor. I just don't understand why she has it so ingrained that the porch light is the one and only indication as to somebody's participation. Now, granted, if there was no light and no lit-up halloween decorations either, I would also agree that one should skip that house.

We ate at Steak and Shake this evening and didn't find out until we went to the register to pay the bill that kids eat free on weekends. That knocked several dollars off of our bill. That is pretty cool, we may eat there more often on the weekends now that we know about that.

Leslie and I watched the first few episodes of "Stargate Universe" on Hulu this week. That show is far more interesting to me than any of the other stargate series. I really haven't watched too many of the previous ones. But this one has kept my attention because in many ways it has characteristics from Star Trek Voyager in that they are on a space-ship, lost on the other side of the universe. But it also has a lot of characteristics of shows like 2001 Space Oddessy and Apollo 13 in that most of the plot elements so far have revolved around crisis involving various ship's systems not working and how they are repairing them. So there is a lot of science involved and so far the science has been somewhat accurate and not just hollywood technobable. It remains to be seen how long the series will remain like that, though.

It appears the rain has stopped for a while. It rained on and off for the last two weeks and the ground up at work has essentially turned into one big mud mess. Partly just from the rain, but also because of all the construction going on out there where they've been digging for new pipes and conduits related to the new buildings we are constructing. But it has gotten down right depressing everytime somebody calls for assistance and I have to walk to their building and my shoes are sinking 2 inches into the mud with every step. The good news is, I've heard that they are going to pour concrete over the entire ground out there once the new buildings are up.
